NDA 1 2025 Notification: Complete Guide for Aspiring Candidates
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the National Defence Academy (NDA) 1 2025 Examination

- Release of Notification: 20th December 2024
- Start of Online Application: 20th December 2024

2. Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan.
b) Age Limit:
- Candidates must be born between 2nd January 2006 and 1st January 2009 (both dates inclusive).
c) Educational Qualifications:
- For Army Wing: Candidates must have passed or must be appearing for the 12th class of the 10+2 pattern of school education or an equivalent examination conducted by a recognized board or university.
- For Air Force and Navy Wings: Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the 12th class with Physics and Mathematics as subjects.
d) Marital Status:
- Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the NDA exam.
3. Application Process:
Candidates wishing to apply for NDA 1 2025 must submit their applications through the online mode on the official UPSC website.
Steps to Apply:
- Visit the UPSC official website: www.upsc.gov.in.
- Click on the “Apply Online” link for the NDA 1 2025 exam under the “What’s New” section.
- Fill in the required details, upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other necessary documents.
- Pay the application fee through online payment or offline payment (SBI Bank).
- Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.
Application Fee:
- General/OBC Candidates: Rs. 100
- SC/ST/PH and Sons of JCOs, NCOs, ORs: No fee
- Payment Options: Candidates can pay the application fee via online mode (Debit/Credit cards, Net Banking) or offline mode (by generating a Pay-in-slip and making payment at an SBI branch).
4. Exam Pattern:
The NDA 1 2025 exam consists of a Written Examination and an SSB Interview. The written exam is objective in nature and is divided into two papers:
Written Examination:
- Paper I: Mathematics
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Maximum Marks: 300
- This paper will test the candidate’s proficiency in various topics like Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and more.
- Paper II: General Ability Test (GAT)
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Maximum Marks: 600
- This paper is divided into two sections:
- Part A: English (200 Marks): Tests candidates’ understanding of the English language, grammar, and vocabulary.
- Part B: General Knowledge (400 Marks): Covers subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs.
Marking Scheme:
- For each correct answer, candidates will earn 4 marks in both Mathematics and General Ability.
- For each incorrect answer, 1.33 marks will be deducted as penalty for negative marking.
5. SSB Interview:
After qualifying the written examination, candidates will be shortlisted for the SSB (Services Selection Board) Interview. The SSB interview process evaluates candidates on various parameters such as psychological testing, physical fitness, and overall suitability for a career in the armed forces.
