HOW TO PREPARE FOR AFCAT EXAM?

The best time to start your preparation for AFCAT Exam is the beginning of pre-final year of your graduation.

Before starting the preparation we advise you to attempt the Model Papers provided at  https://afcat.cdac.in/AFCAT/ for better assessment of oneself.

The difficulty level of the Exam is moderate and can be aced in the very first attempt, if one start preparing for it systematically and diligently.

Numerical ability: The numerical ability Questions are of Matric level and the only constraint is the time limit. With practice this constraint can also be removed. One can start practicing the basic question, given in standard books of Quantitative Aptitude such as R. S Aggarwal.

English: The questions are of a Graduate’s level. For those who have a habit of reading books, newspaper & are aware of Basic grammar rules (noun, Tenses, verbs, etc.) English won’t be a challenge at all.  Error Identification and antonym synonyms are some common questions in English and for this a candidate can start reading the newspapers & books of their interests (English medium) on a regular basis. This will give a great boost to your vocabulary and help you learn English in practice.

Reasoning:  Strategically this is the section where the candidate gets a chance to increase his/her overall score.  Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning comprises of the maximum number of questions in AFCAT Exam. The questions are fairly simple and can be mastered with practice.

General Awareness: To ace the General Awareness Section, one need to have basic knowledge about, Geography, Polity, History, Economic, day-to-day Science & Current events. Most candidates find this section to be the most difficult. Syllabus as mentioned in the AFCAT official notification is very open ended and the paper comprises of wide range of questions. Systematic analysis of previous year questions will leave you with a fair idea of what to read and what not to.

The cutoff score remains somewhere around 50% – 55 % of the Maximum marks. Hence, it can be said that if one maintains a good accuracy while attempting the paper, He/she will definitely clear the AFCAT EXAM.

When a candidate starts the preparation of this competitive exam. He/she must follow 3 step:

      • ORGANISE i.e. Find the requirement of the Exam.
      • MEMORISE the required content.
      • REVISE in order to furnish your concepts. In this stage solving and analyzing Mock Tests can prove to be a game-changer for a candidate.
