    A. NDA Exam:

    Every year, the National Defence Academy recruitment exam is administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The first stage for prospective students looking to join the Indian military is this exam. About 400 seats are available for this exam, which is conducted twice in a year. Once a candidate clears written exam then he has to appear in SSB interview process which lasts 5 days. A candidate who clears SSB interview and medical test and features in top 400 in merit list gets the opportunity to join NDA in Khadakwasla, Pune ( Maharashtra). After 3 Years of training in NDA the candidates move to IMA – Dehradun, AFA- Hyderabad & Naval Academy , Ezimala for final commissioning in respective forces. Furthermore, Joining NDA Provides a great job opportunity for people who wish to serve their country.

    B. NDA Exam Eligibility

    UPSC conducts NDA examinations and the candidates must meet the eligibility conditions for & citizenship, age & qualification.

    Citizenship: -

    • An Indian national
    • A person who lives in Nepal
    • A person who lives in Bhutan
    • A refugee from Tibet who arrived in India before June 1, 1962, with the intention of settling there permanently
    • Any person of Indian descent who relocated from Pakistan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and East African countries like Ethiopia, Malawi, Zaire, Vietnam, or Zambia and have the aim to live in India permanently. They must present a certificate supporting their immigration.

    Age:-

    A Candidate must be aged between 16.5 Years to 19.5 Years at the time of start of training at NDA. Though at the time of Notification he must be between 15.5 years and 18.5 years so that he fulfills the age criteria at the time of joining the NDA Training.

    Educational Qualifications

    The educational requirements vary depending on the course; they are not the same for all NDA academic streams.
    1. ARMY – 10+2 or Equivalent from a recognized institution
    2. INDIAN AIR FORCE – 10+2 or Equivalent with Physics & Mathematics.
    3. INDIAN NAVY or NAVAL ACADEMY – 10+2 or Equivalent with Physics & Mathematics.

    C. NDA Exam Pattern:

    NDA Exam is conducted into two stages
    STAGE I – Written Test

    SATGE II – Interview with Service Selection Board (SSB)

    The written test is additionally separated into 2 Papers :
    PAPER I :- Mathematics

    PAPER II :- General Ability Test (GAT).

    The following is the UPSC-formulated marking scheme:

    • MATHEMATICS :- A Correct response carries 2.5 Marks & for a wrong response, 0.83 points are taken away.
    • GAT:- A right response carries 4 marks. 1.33 points are taken away for a wrong response.

    D. SYLLABUS & WEIGHTAGE :-

    PAPER I : ( MATHEMATICS ) – The Mathematics section contains the entire syllabus of 11th & 12th Class Mathematics. So NDA aspirant students must be well versed with the subject of their 11th & 12th and focus on the basics to clear Paper I.

    SSB Interview Pattern : -

    After Clearing Written Examination a candidate needs to appear in SSB Interview. It’s a 5 Days process and the candidate is tested wholistically in all domains like Persinal Interview, Psychology along with GTO activities which involve group discussion, lecturette, group, planning and ground activities.     E. NDA Exam Cut Off Marks :-

    A candidate needs to score minimum proportion of marks in order to pass the NDA written exam. A minimum of 25% is required to pass the GAT and Mathematics exam separately. Nonetheless, in order to pass the test and be chosen for the SSB interview, the applicant needs to score around 350+ Marks out of 900 Marks. Candidates must receive the highest possible score on the NDA written exam in order to be included in the final merit list.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    There will be 900 marks for the NDA written exam and 900 marks for the NDA SSB. Thus, the final score will be from 900 + 900 = 1800 marks. A score of 375+ in written exam is regarded by NDA as a safe range for inclusion in the final merit list. A minimum of 25% must be earned in each topic for candidates to pass. There isn't a sectional cut-off, though. The combined scores from the two subjects—Mathematics and the General Ability Test—will determine the cutoff for the writing exam.

    One year to six months is the ideal amount of time needed to prepare an NDA. Candidates should concentrate on all disciplines and themes pertinent to the exam during the preparation session.     Yes Girls are eligible for NDA Examination. Around 35 seats are reserved for Girl Candidates.

    Any student who has done or appearing in 12th grade exams can appear in NDA examination in case he meets other eligibility criteria’s. Though for Air Force and army a student must have studied Maths & Physics at 12th level. Arts, Commerce & medical stream students can only apply for Indian Army in NDA.
